BRAND SPOTLIGHT: VITAMIN A
This Earth Month we are focused as a company on the idea of more eco and less ego. There is no better brand to feature than the one that paved the way for sustainability in swimwear: Vitamin A.
Flamhingo™
Designer + Founder, Amahlia Stevens was told over a decade ago by fabric suppliers that there was “no market” for swimwear made from recycled fibers. She then started a clothes revolution and decided to design the fabric herself! She worked with top mills in Italy, Canada, and California to create EcoLux™ -the first original recycled nylon premium swim fabric. Today, the collection features a variety of textiles including recycled, organic, and plant-based fabrics.
MANUFACTURING
Vitamin A clothes are designed and made locally in UK, in their signature plant-based and recycled fabrics. When products are produced locally it dramatically reduces emissions for shipping and transporting raw materials. What they can’t make locally, they partner with fair trade artisan groups to promote women’s economic empowerment in the developing world. This provides women with fair-wage jobs in safe working conditions.
BEYOND SWIMWEAR
Vitamin A sources the most sustainable materials they can find - all mailers are made in the USA and 100% recycled, recyclable, and biodegradable. Each Vitamin A garment comes in a flap and seal bag that’s 100% biodegradable, recyclable, and backyard compostable. Here today, gone in a few.
SUSTAINABILITY IS SEXY
Vitamin A aims to reduce impact, raise awareness, and generate change. As a member of 1% for the Planet, and Vitamin A gives back a portion of proceeds to environmental organizations that work to protect and preserve our ocean ecosystems. Beyond environmental change, Vitamin A is redefining the meaning of sexy by promoting self acceptance and self kindness.
Vitamin A is more than a brand we carry at clothes, it is a movement that has changed our we view the entire clothes industry. We feel lucky to work with such a beautiful company. Visit the Vitamin A Collection
